- The Sewing Studio, where I teach, is generously providing the space for the event.
- Creativebug.com, a fab new site for video tutorials (and the home of my next series of online classes!). There will be free memberships for the first 50 people to arrive at the party!

Much love and jealousy from 7 hours away in Virginia. Wish I could make the trip and celebrate with you. We need pics of everyone's fab ensembles for the evening!

ReplyDeleteI would be there if I was still in NYC! I'll share with my friends though :)

I just bought my ticket! I was one of your pattern testers and I'd love to wear the wiggle dress to the event. I only was able to make a muslin way back then, so hopefully I can somehow get it sewn up in time! -Amanda
ReplyDeleteI just bought my ticket, see you there!
ReplyDeleteI'm sad!! I wish I could be there but I'm alllllllll the way over here in Missouri. Which basically puts me in the black hole for everything but farming. :o(
ReplyDeletePLEASE PLEASE come to the Pacific NW!! I'd love to show off my bombshell and meet you in person. :D
ReplyDeleteHow I would love to be there - but I live in Chichester, UK! Just got your book - well my book now - patterns, completely unexpected, my poor reading skills!

I would love to attend if I didn't live in Sweden ... And was expecting a baby any day. But at least your book is in the mail on its way to me so I'll have that and as soon as I get my body back I'll be sewing from it.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with the party and the fundraising for the animal shelter!
I would if I didn´t live in Germany. I love your book, since saturday I´m a proud owner. The Pencil Skirt is finished, fit perfect.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for this wonderful book.
Anja
If only I was even 2hr away from NY - I would come :( But I live in Eau Claire, you should come to Minneapolis :). Good luck with the book signing and many success to you! Your book is amazing, I've been reading for it ever since I got it last week. All the explanation is on point. My 2013 goal is to work my way from page 127 to 195 by my birthday in Aug :)
ReplyDeleteOh how I wish I lived closer to NYC!
ReplyDeleteHave a great party!!! I was so happy when my copy arrived in the mail! I'm enjoying the tailoring chapter immensely!
Wish you all a nice party (with lots of photos for us afterwards)!! Greetings from Berlin, where I sit on my coach right now and will keep on reading after I send this up.
ReplyDeleteReading your book, of course ;)
DeleteIf only we were in New York not Gutersloh!
ReplyDelete:o)
Alas, I live in Colorado, or else I would so be there. My copy of your book has arrived, however I cannot yet read it, as it is to be a birthday present and my birthday is on the 15th. I look forward to it immensely!
ReplyDeleteToo bad Vegas isn't at all close.... I'm jealous of those of you that can attend!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to come but I'm on completely the wrong continent, and I'll be on a train. I have bought your book though and I love it! Good luck with the launch party!
ReplyDeleteWould love love and love to attend! But alas here in Aus. Can't wait to get a copy. Absolutely adore you and all you endorse. Have a magic evening, you deserve it. Xx
ReplyDeleteI hope you have an enjoyable, successful evening! I'm in the uk so can't come, but on the plus side your book has arrived today! I've had it on preorder since end of April knowing it would come about a week after my birthday, I'm delighted! Its the first sewing book I have bought and actually read cover to cover, it's beautifully written and illustrated, congratulations!
ReplyDeleteIn London, so no chance sadly.
ReplyDeleteI'll just have to sit and admire my copy of your book which arrived this morning instead! I'm so looking forward to reading it from cover to cover. The projects and photos look so wonderful, and I love all the line drawings (including the little Henry's dotted around the place. So cute!).
If I were anywhere near NYC I would go! I shall carry on here in Portland, OR :-).
ReplyDeleteBTW I love the book. It is wonderful and just right for me; I will dive right into projects as soon as I get my new dress form ready (thanks, supportive boyfriend!).
2 tickets ordered from Arizona and 39 dog scarves shipped!
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome!!!
DeleteSilly question, but, Gertie, what counts as festive for September?
ReplyDeleteI SO wish I could go ~ I can't wait to get the book!
ReplyDeleteI'd be there in a heartbeat if I still lived on the east coast. The book is on my Christmas list, since I'm on a strict budget right now.
ReplyDeleteWishing you the best from the Windy City!
ReplyDeleteI'm in Australia, but I'll be there in spirit and hope you have a wonderful time ;)...I love that Pets Alive will benefit from your launch!!!
ReplyDeleteI am impatiently waiting on your book to arrive... it should be here any day now.
I can't make. I do have your book though. It's quite lovely.
ReplyDeletei'm literally flying back in to our fair city as you'll be packing up the party goods.i am SO monumentally bummed...
ReplyDeleteI wish I could be there, but as its along way from Australia, I'll just have to make do with my copy of your book which is on its way! Wish it were signed too!
ReplyDeleteWish I could be there, I'm sure you'll have a lovely time!
ReplyDeleteWhile I can't attend the launchparty, I will however have the book by then as I just got an email 10 min ago that it has been shipped, and I'll have it in my hands in about 3 days. A two year wait will soon be over! =) Yay!
Gertie, my husband's 85 year old aunt told us that my husband was always "the berries". We had to look it up on urban slang to find the meaning!
ReplyDeleteI think you and your blog are the berries! As a farmer's wife I can't get to NYC this month, as there is still much work to do on the farm. I'll be there in spirit: you go girl!
Just a shout- out. I´ve read your blog and followed your journey from the word go and it´s been thrilling all the way.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your steady rise and success and cudos for giving a voice to the four- legged ones that need a helping hand.
I wish I could! However my book arrived during the week, it's on my coffee table and can't wait to read it this weekend, never have I been so excited by a sewing book, it looks stupendous!!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to try some of the patterns too
Gertie, your book arrived today and it's wonderful. I live in Barcelona so I won't be there but have a good time, I'll be reading your book.
ReplyDeleteSo wishing I lived in New York right now! I've been practically sitting by the letter box awaiting my book pre-order all week so that'll have to do me instead :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great time! I received my book yesterday and it is BEAUTIFUL! I love it. Congratulations on a great success!
ReplyDeleteI got the book in the mail last night and it's gorgeous!! Congrats!
ReplyDeleteI wish I lived close enough to go to the party! I got your book two weeks ago and have been elated ever since. So impressed with it all.
ReplyDeleteI've ordered your book and it's expected to arrive around 15th September! If only Melbourne, Australia was a little closer to New York.
ReplyDeleteTicket ordered and iron-on transfers and fabric ready for some kerchiefs. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
ReplyDeleteHi Gertie,
ReplyDeleteJust thought I'd leave you a note to say that I got my copy of your book today and that I am super stoked with it. Fantastic. Can't wait to get cracking on those patterns!
Congratulations on such a mammoth achievement. Fantastic book!
I'm coming! Yay!
ReplyDeleteGretchen,my pre-ordered book has finally arrived here in the UK!, all I can say is: Oh the spiral-bound heaven in which I now find myself!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your book, I will be there for the book launch, I had planned on purchasing the book on Amazaon, now I can get a copy in person.
ReplyDeleteI hope its ok to post on this thread. But I bought your book, it arrived at the weekend and I think its brilliant. At last a book that covers everything I want to know and doesn't think hand sewing is the poor cousin to machine sewing (I hand sew 99% of everything I make...even dresses). Your sizing is the closest I've found to a normal shape.
ReplyDeleteIt prompted me to dig out the meter of material I've had in my stash and have a go at the pencil skirt. And already started planning the fabric for future projects. Icy pink brocade with red lining anyone?
Gertie... congratulations and what a wonderful idea having a charity event! I've already booked my flight, but to my 40th class reunion. Oh it would be so fun to rock a retro outfit for that! Have a wonderful time celebrating all your hard work!
ReplyDeleteGertie..hope you have a wonderful book signing event! Sounds super cool! I tried to convince my honey to take me next weekend as he's from NYC, buuuuttt we're about 6 hrs. away! Best of luck and I'll be ordering your book soon!
ReplyDeleteI just spent a fabulous weekend reading through every word of your wonderful book! Mine finally arrived last Friday. (I ordered through Crafter's Choice book club, which I firmly believe has books delivered on horseback by old-timey cowboys, since they are always ridiculously SLOW. But enough about that.) It is a truly fabulous book; anyone who is hesitating should just go ahead and buy it already! The photos, descriptions, and instructional material are all top-notch. The patterns are also terrific, and although I am beyond the size range offered, I picked up a world of tips and techniques anyway. Just wanted to congratulate you on producing such a great book.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the party! Wish I lived nearby :) Got your book a few days ago, and I'm in LOVE. It's beautiful & so inspiring! <3
ReplyDeleteI loved meeting you in JoAnn's today! Hope I didn't scare you off! You are on your way!
ReplyDeleteGo girl!
I received my book from Amazon last Friday and stayed up until I had read it cover to cover! Loved it!!
ReplyDeleteMy sister wants to start sewing and I keep telling her she needs to get a good beginners manual. Your book will be perfect. However,I consider myself to be an advanced sewer (I've take your Bombshell class!) and I found lots of good info plus the free patterns. It has something for sewers at every level.
The thing I love best about the book is your writing style. You write like I would talk if visiting with a good friend. You aren't afraid to use the words we use in real life!
Whoever did your illustrations deserves a huge compliment as well. Beautifully done; she seems to have captured your spirit in her drawings.
Wishing you great success and joy at your book party!
I received my book from Amazon last week as I pre-ordered it, it is the best book that I have ever bought and feel that I will improve my sewing skills no end. I have so much to learn. I also completed my bombshell dress and have the starlet jacket to do at some time. I have purchased my coat pattern and waiting for the sew along to start, following your courses has awakend a new interest in sewing for me. I feel so pleased when I finish an item and receive compliments of how nice it is. :) well worth all the effort. Hope to make many of the garments from the book theres so much information in there I cant wait to start my next project.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could attend, but alas, I live too far away and can't add in a trip this weekend! I just got your book and it is gorgeous! I had to pick it up from my front office before coming to work, and I was so excited I ripped open the box and started reading it on the metro.
