The Slip Sew-Along Begins April 1st!

The response to the upcoming slip sew-along has been amazing! This will be a worldwide slip sewing extravaganza!

I've begun shipping out the pre-orders for the slip kits, and will continue to do so over the next few weeks. (Please note that if you also ordered a pattern, those are still on backorder. I'm waiting for my shipment of patterns, and will begin packing as soon as they arrive!)

I've decided to start posting steps for the sew-along on April 1st. This will hopefully allow plenty of time for the kits to make it to you, even if you live overseas. I will most likely post some preparation topics before then, but actual sewing won't begin until April.

My house has turned into a slip kit production facility! Once I've shipped out the current batch of kits, I'll start offering some new options, like black lace/notions, new colors, and a plus size/tall kit (if you need more fabric). The current kits have enough supplies to make a slip and pair of panties, up to a size 22, assuming you don't make any pattern changes. You can skip the panties if you want a longer slip, though!

Looking forward to sewing slips with all of you!

  2. I'm really excited about this! I've only sewn one pair of panties before and it wasn't very successful and I don't care for modern slips, they're so plain. And I'd love to see red as a new color option. I've always wanted a red slip, maybe with white lace. :)

    1. Of course! You can use whatever color you want, I'm just offering the kits to make it easier to find all the supplies in one place. I'm also selling the pattern in my etsy shop for easy locating. Just click the link in the post above.

  4. I'm mostly excited about my slip because I ordered the lavender and I love that color and never use it because it seems so...twee for an outer garment. Yes!!!

  5. I won't be taking part this time because I have other things on at the moment, but I'm really looking forward to watching the progress of the sewalong :)

  6. I'm so excited. This will be my first sew along and I'm determined it will be the step to get me back to my sewing machine. I've got lots of projects ready to start and too many things between me and the sewing machine. Time for a change. Thank you Gertie for your time and thank you to all your followers for unknowingly helping me keep my interest in sewing even if it's only been in creating in my mind!!! This is a Great Place to meet some of the most awesome people!!!

  8. Missing something. I've found the etsy pattern, but could not find the kit link. Any suggestion? Or am I too late? Have a good day, all of you

  11. Hi Gertie! Thank you for hosting the sew-along. I am a novice sewer and I want to learn how to sew clothing for myself and this is the perfect way to do it. I look forward to getting the kit and pattern. Thank you so much for providing the kits!

  12. You are tempting me, Gertie! I've set a strict sewing budget for myself this year and I'm trying to figure out how I can fit this in. Will future kits come in navy blue? Please, please?

  13. fun! Do you know, is this pattern pretty true to size? I want to trace off what I **think** is my size but it seems like in Butterick patterns are too big? If I cut what my measurements say I'm swimming in clothes. And since its a slip I'd like it to be nice and tight-ish. Thank you! I can't wait! xo-Kriston

  15. Gertie,
I clicked the link to order the kit and the page says your shop is on vacation. Are you not taking any more orders? I want to join the sew along. Sourcing the materials needed through you will guarantee I have the right stuff.

  16. So want to do this. I've been wanting to make a slip and I need some camies, so this is perfect. Please hurry back from "vacation" to accept new orders. (I know you're actually frantically filling orders)

  17. Gertie, I went to the etsy store to purchase a kit, but it says you are on vacation. Can you please tell me how much the kit will be? I could not see a price.
    Thanks,
    Angie
