OMG Zac Posen

I can't even. Is this man human? Look at those features! Those glossy black waves! The glowing complexion! The cinematic arch of the eyebrows! The perfectly tailored notch on his jacket! Oh, I could go on and on . . .

Have you been watching this season's Project Runway, readers? Zac Posen, Greek God, is filling in for judge Michael Kors, the Orange Duchess (so nicknamed for his penchant for spray tans and bitchy royal demeanor). According to Jeff, no one can replace the Orange Duchess, but then again . . . Jeff doesn't turn into a giggling school girl every time the Greek God comes on screen.

Have I mentioned his smile?

His thoughtful and encouraging manner of critiquing design?

Okay, let's discuss the elephant in the room.

Obviously, Zac would not return my feelings. But guys, that's why he's my imaginary boyfriend, not my real one. If the pesky little issue of sexual identity got in the way of women having crushes on handsome and kind and stylish gay men, well . . . the pillars of Western popular culture would basically be upturned.

I have two other imaginary boyfriends, BTW. (Don't worry, Jeff doesn't get jealous. He completely understands.)

OMG Dave Grohl.

OMG Stephen Colbert.

Wait! Make that three other imaginary boyfriends!

OMG Adam Scott. (Wow, it's getting crowded in here.)

I know, readers. I have extremely good taste in men.

Okay, back to the point. Are you readers liking Zac Posen on Project Runway this season?

  1. I'm sorry to say that I gave up on Project Runway. The last several seasons have been just dreadful, the challenges are repetitive, and the concept is stale. So widdle Zac Posen hasn't been on my radar at all.

But I do love many of his designs.

  2. The only one I really understand is Adam Scott. That guy is just delightful.

And ok, Zac Posen is pretty dreamy.

  3. Dave Growl, oops, Grohl.....

    I miss the orange one....

  4. I started watching PR like two years ago, right when my daughters bestowed the sewing machine into my life. I really miss Michael Kors the way I miss Simon Cowell on American Idol. It was that caustic breath of honesty. But, I like the way Zac Posen politely disagrees with Nina Garcia. As an editor of a major fashion magazine, Nina clearly has the final word on what is fashion and what is not fashion. But Zac likes to remind her that he deals with the real world, but manages to do it with the taste and manners of Tim Gunn. He is a nice addition to the panel.

My imaginary boyfriend, and I feel I must comment even though it so clearly dates my age, has always been Raymond Burr as Perry Mason. I have always been so totally in love with a fictional character. And it totally broke my heart to realize Raymond Burr was gay. But he was a wonderful actor and warmed my heart as the intelligent and caring attorney, Perry Mason. I even went to secretarial school to be come a legal secretary because I wanted to be Della Street (a beautiful lady who wore such pretty dresses and skirts and clearly warmed Perry's heart.) But alas, the real world got in the way and I ended up going to college and then in Alaska working as a school psychologist.

  5. I live in Austin, and the only thing that got me straight up giddy about SXSW was that Paul Rudd was in town. *sigh* Yes, my husband totally understands.

    1. I am so with you on the Paul Rudd thing-- he's like a human puppy dog! So cute!

  6. Oi Gertie, back off my man Adam. He's clearly my sexy little hummingbird.

Also I think it's hilarious that Jeff is weighing in, in your post and in the comments.

  7. I'm really liking him. He is adorable too. Gives great advice and is nice to look at :) My crush is Gavin Rossdale, totally in love with that man LOL He has good style too!

  8. Oh my gawd, I turned into a giggling school girl just by seeing these images! I gave up PR some seasons ago, but I clearly NEED to see the elegance of the Greek God in motion!

  9. Firstly, you can keep your mitts off the musical genius of our generation, 'cos he's MINE!! Aren't you, Dave dear? Secondly, stop dribbling over your fantasy boyfriends and get back to work, because we're waiting on the FBA for B5882! Pretty please :-)

  10. Yes! I totally agree on Zac Posen (and Dave and Stephen). I wasn't happy that he was taking over for Michael. I had never been a fan, but I really like him on the show. He's not my imaginary boyfriend (like Dave and Stephen), but I really appreciate his critiques and presence on PR this season.

  11. Yes! love Zac on Project Runway this season - I loved when he went after Nina about long prom dresses being so over - I have two daughters and have dressed them for a total of 7 proms!(I never went to mine by the way) and not one girl wore a short prom dress. LOL NINA Zac is absolutely correct all girls want to look like a princess.

    1. I loved that one too! And I agree 100%. I dressed my daughters for a total of like 8 homecomings, 9 proms (I never went to mine either), 8 winter formals and I can't imagine how many other events in between. And frankly not that long ago! But homecoming was always for shorter cocktail dresses and prom was long gown time!

  12. I really like him. I think he is very refreshing, I always felt like Nina and Michael were a bit redundant. By that I mean they always seemed to have similar opinions. Zac seems to have a legitimate third viewpoint to add.
Love "The orange duchess" that made me giggle like a silly person

  13. OMG Colbert!
I did not tune in to PR this season, except for the fist 2 episodes. Am I missng out? I feel like there too much drama, too little design/sewing.

  14. Ahh Gertie, Zac is definately gorgeous! I'll have to see if I can find the show to see what's going on! I thought I was too old for such longings/lusting over stars..but then I found Jonathan Rhys Meyers from The Tudors..mmm dreamy!

  15. When I read the title before clicking into the post I thought a teenage girl had hacked your blog, lol!!

My husband would be jealous if I had a crush on David Grohl, but only because he already has a man crush on him! heheh

  16. I really like Zac Posen as a judge this season. He is high class, and it shows. My favorite is that he gives CONSTRUCTIVE criticism... he doesn't just tear down and say he doesn't like something... he adds WHY he feels that way. And I also like it that he's not afraid to disagree with the other judges.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I love that Zac Posen gives constructive criticism as opposed to catty zingers.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I like Zac Posen as a judge and he gives great comments, but I do miss Michael Kors for his semi-bitchy comparisons. "She literally looks like she got caught in a tornado of toilet paper." So not constructive, but makes me giggle!

And I have a crush on Stephen Colbert that my boyfriend approves of. Yes, he's nearly twice my age but age ain't nothing but a number. :)

  19. Great looking and a GREAT designer!! Can't get much better!!! I 2nd you on Dave Grohl also!!!

    ReplyDelete
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHA, as I was reading this, having not scrolled all the way to the bottom yet, I thought to myself, "Come on Gertie, how could you not include Adam Scott?!" But then OF COURSE you included Adam Scott.
Ever since this, http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/2011/12/ryan-gosling-meme-for-crafters.html Ryan has been on my list too, so thanks! Imaginary boyfriends are great.

  21. Zac is way better than Michael!!! Loving him this season!

    ReplyDelete
  22. OMG Zac. If they never bring Michael Kors back I will be one happy viewer.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Gertie, we have the EXACT same imaginary boyfriends! Also, I love Zac but I'm really missing The Duchess this season. "THE CROTCH IS INSANE!"

    ReplyDelete
  24. I really like Zac on PR and hope they keep him around. When I first heard it was team challenges I was disappointed. I usually did not care for them on the other seasons. However, I actually like this season. The whole group depends on each outfit being awesome in order to get the higher score and it seems to foster more teamwork within the group. I could do without some of the drama and all the crying (does Kleenex sponsor the show???). :)

  25. Gertie, please stop salivating. You're making my keyboard wet!! I must find this programme to see this Greek God, he's not known in the UK.

Linda (whose long time imaginary boyfriend is Keifer Sutherland) xxxx

  26. This post made me laugh out loud at me desk at work! I always have imaginary boyfriends and call them just that, depending on my location. So I have an IOB "Imaginary office boyfriend". So I guess Jeff would have to be your Imaginary Sewing Boyfriend, ISB! Nice job!!

  27. I have enjoyed ZP on PR; it seems that the fact that he was quite recently a young, new designer trying to get noticed tempers his criticism with a kind of empathy that the older, more professionally established judges sometimes lack.

    ReplyDelete
  28. So jealous - Project Runway isn't screening in the UK anymore! But Zac Posen is a real cutie!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love that show ! I am liking Zac Posen very much on the show. I do like Michael Kors too. Maybe they could replace Nina Garcia with Zac. I would definitely like that. Last week with the duck tape was really neat, loved what they came up with.

  30. You DO have good taste in men. Well, Grohl? Not for me. I was so sad when Kors didn't show up this season. But, one gold star from Zac Posen is worth everything!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I was really sad when Kors wasn't on, he's just so deliciously bitchy! However, Zac is starting to grow on me for sure. (Just have to throw in my love for Adam Levine for no reason.... he's my hall pass ;)

    ReplyDelete
  32. ZP is adorable! This is my first season watching the program so I can't really compare, but I do love watching him politely but strongly disagree and express his great points. Also he's helpful and honest and still funny.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree with ThriftyGirl51 about Nina, and I also agree that Nina and Michael were a bit redundant a lot of the time. I like Zac's opinions and his kindness to the designers. So far, I think they've gotten rid of the correct designers, too.

  34. I don't have Sky so I don't get to see Project Runway in the UK, which is a shame. But what I'm really waiting for is the Great British Sewing Bee with the lovely Patrick Grant later this year on British TV...

In my dreams, one day I'll buy my husband a bespoke suit from Savile Row's Norton & Sons, just so that I can tag along to the fitting sessions and be reduced to a girlie, giggling mess in a corner every time Patrick Grant wafts past (assuming he's not too busy to hang about the shop these days!).

  35. I'm liking Zac in The Duchess's seat, mostly because I was getting tired of hearing Michael Kors trotting out the same old sound bites and one-liners, rather than actually giving constructive criticism. It gets old after a while, you know? And I don't know how the designers are supposed to grow and change without legitimate critiques. Okay, maybe I take it too seriously. I'm willing to bet that it kills the editing staff that Zac doesn't give them the snide comments we normally get from Kors, but I'm also betting that the designers appreciate his comments more than they would if Kors were doing the critiquing. Plus, I like the way he stood up to Nina last week and said that he dressed a lot of girls for prom and that they wanted long dresses, so clearly she didn't know what she was talking about. That was a legitimate point and he made it in defense of a dress that he didn't really like, so I feel like he has an ability to see things within the context of the challenge that maybe Nina and Heidi don't see any more. That's only to the good.

    1. This!!! So much this! I do love our Duchess, but ZP is really good. I think that it's easy to be b!tchy, but harder to give decent criticism. Now, if we could only get a bit more of the design side...

Oh, and I do NOT get this Adam Scott vibe at all. Seriously? blah. But then I go for Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp. Perhaps that's a good thing - less competition all 'round, right?

  36. He is a cutie patootie! I just started watching PR a few seasons ago and wonder why I didn't start watching sooner! I like the little bit of change up they've given it this season.

  37. I am totally into Zac Posen being a permanent replacement for the Orange Dutchess (great name). O.D. is a pompous, arrogant *** ****. Every so often I see in his latest line exactly the same issues that he criticizes the contestant for. I guess that also makes him a hypocrite, too. Now if they can just oust the M-C ice queen.

    ReplyDelete
  38. But I have seen pictures of your hubby on here. He is a looker :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm loving Zac in PR. The man is charismatic and has excellent taste and style. LOVE!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am loving Zac Posen! He is beautiful and a great judge. I tend to crush on gay men, Nate Berkus is another favorite of mine LOL I like my straight men as well, Hello Adam Levine and Ryan Gosling!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I love ZP (!) on PR. He is incredibly good looking, he is thoughtful, he has an opinion, he is friendly and kind. Oh, and he has great taste.
Btw, I do like Michael Kors too.
Oh, and my imaginary boyfriends are Adam Levine, Daniel Craig, and Matt Smith (from Doctor Who). And Cary Grant, especially in "To catch a thief". Yes, I know he is dead. I don't care. :-D

    Christina

  42. I do have a certain nostalgia for Michael Kors on PR, like I felt like the 3 of them had a rhythm & chemistry and Zac is still feeling like a guest judge. However, he does give really good critiques and he is adorable so I'm sure I'll get used to him before too long.
My imaginary boyfriends at the moment are Brett Mckenzie and Michael Fassbender.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My imaginary boyfriend is not only gay but partnered and has 3 children. The lovely Matt Bomer from White Collar. As long as Tim Gunn is on PR I am happy.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I have the same imaginary BF as Sarah S....Matt Bomer is rockin'! And I love Zac on PR...I think he was a great addition to the panel!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Sorry but Stephen Colbert and Adam Scott in my opinion are just guys with nice and well made jackets. Are you sure that you want them as your boyfriend and not their tailor?
BUT the two others are hot, simply hot.Dave Grohl reminds me Bruce Springsteen during the Born in the USA era but taller.Yeah, I am that old that he was my imaginary boyfriend in high school during that period. Do you think we could meet them just to give us an autograph or something? What the heck girls ask nowadays.

  46. Originally I was sad that MK wasn't going to be on this season, I really love the hilarious comments he makes - like - "She looks like a Victorian hooker in Las Vegas" or "She looks like Peter Brady at a Harvest Festival" But I am enjoying ZP, he is a cutie and he is KIND, which is refreshing!

  47. I love Zak in Project Runway! They are very...... Lucky to have such talent. My imaginary BF is David Muir ABC news anchor!
