As promised: me modeling my green Sencha blouse! The great thing about these retro button-back blouses is that they look just as great with jeans or cords as with a pencil skirt. I think it's a super cute weekend look when paired with some victory rolls and Chucks.I am so digging the rayon drapey-ness of this fabric.
Here's a back view. When untucked, you get a cute little split at the bottom of the blouse.
You can really see the waistline tucks in this picture.
A perfect weekend outfit, I think. I made a size 8 (Colette Patterns sizes are closer to ready-to-wear than traditional sewing patterns), and it's roomy enough to be comfortable but fitted enough to look great tucked into a skirt.
I feel like I could use one of these blouses in every color! Ah, if only I had the time . . .Speaking of time, editing the second and third parts of my Peter Pan collar video tutorial is taking me longer than expected. But Part Two will be up this weekend! hi gertie, i love your blog and I think the sencha blouse is fabulous too. i would make one in every colour too. i was just wondering, is it an easy pattern to sew? I'm very new to sewing. I only started less than a year ago and really want to give the sencha blouse a go.

I wouldn't have thought to dress this pattern down, but I love it! Makes me covet the pattern doubly much. :-) And that fabric is super-cute.

I love this shirt... its pretty short on you. it was short on me too... I wonder how i can make it a tad bit longer... like 2-3 inches... do you have any suggestions? Just slash it at the waistline and add the extra length??

this is very cute! I just made mine in a cotton as I planned to wear it untucked but this top seems to work a lot better in fabric with more drape. I'll be shoving samples in wine glasses for my next version of this!

Agh, Gertie, stop it! You keep posting this great patterns and making me want them! LOL. Love the blouse. I have McCalls 2818, another back-button blouse pattern, but the tucks and back split on the Sencha are much cuter.

Annabelle, I think this pattern is very suitable for a beginner with a few projects under her belt. Go for it! Maybe start with the round-neckline version to get comfortable with it.
Brook, to add length I wouldn't slash and spread, as that would interfere with the tuck placement. Instead, just use a clear gridded ruler to add length to the bottom.
Karen, they're stretch cords. I live in them over the weekends!
