Brown Hair, Puyallup, and More!

Well, the deed is done! I'm back to my (kinda sorta) natural hair color. It required an enormous amount of work to get it to this shade, so I can hardly think of it as really natural. But I'm sure it's someone's natural hair color. My big photo shoot for Gertie's Ultimate Dress Book is mere days away, and I have a closet full of 25 dresses ready to go. I'm happy with the color, and think it will make a nice neutral "accessory" for the frocks. I'll admit that I'm kind of fried from prepping for this shoot and I'm looking forward to the downtime from when it's over. I'm already planning what I'll sew for fun and relaxation! (Gracious, this sewing stuff is addictive.)

In the meantime, I'm headed to Puyallup for the Sewing & Stitchery Expo! Perhaps I will see some of you there? I'll be in the McCall's/Butterick/Vogue booth on Saturday (I'll be there all day signing books and such) and we're going to announce the Gertie's Grand Giveaway winner! There were so many amazing entries, and Butterick has created this super cool look book of all of them. It's so amazing seeing all these fantastically creative versions of my patterns!

Thank you so much to all who entered! I can't wait to reveal the big winner!

  2. Oh my, it makes you look all grown up. (Don't get me wrong, that is not the same thing as looking older!)

  12. I have always loved your "princess" haircolors and lived vicariously through your great changes..Thanks for that! Your "natural" brunette looks fantastic! As a brunette myself, I have secretly wanted to do something different for years. I think your new color is fitting/flattering for the current dress book photo shoot. In your honor, I will do something different with my hair soon ;)...

  14. Really love the hair! Suits you so well. I remember dying mine back from nuclear red (with henna and indigo) and how oddly fresh it felt to look more natural.

    I'd say that's a job well done:)

  17. I was ready for your change too I love this new look more back to a natural look. I wonder what your real color is, like we saw in the past with the short bangs, so cute? It's quite lovely with your coloring and dyes are not the best to use if you can get away with your natural color. But you look beautiful in any color.

  18. I have a practical suggestion and it involves a hair care product that has been a wonder for my aging, drying, frizzy as a result hair, and yes, this will sound like an advertisement. Try Wen hair care products. They are not shampoos which strip your hair (and to think, I used to use Prell Shampoo). After a couple of washes/cleansings with Wen, your hair will be shiny and soft, which is what happened to my hair. I was so distressed about its condition that I decided to try it after seeing the commercial on TV. If you have specific questions about your hair you can call them any time. http://www.wen.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-WenHairCare-Site/default/Home-Show?cgid=ALL

  19. Have fun in Expo! I need to make it there some year since I live about an house from there. But I'm in Scotland so I can't go this year- but that is okay because the Great British Sewing Bee is on right now!

  20. I'm so glad you've gone "au naturel". I'm sure your hair will soon regain its old gloss.
I know I'm oldfashioned, but I didn't like the bright coloured hair on you.

  21. My sister in law was at the expo! If I'd known she was going, I'd have joined her and could have met you, darn it! The new colour looks fantastic on you... I loved the purple on you, but the brown is awfully nice too :)
