Blog Changes A-Comin' + New Fabric + Blouse Class

Black floral linen
Hello, readers! Big news: I'm finally making some design changes to the blog, as posted here. It will be a template update to make the content easier to navigate--plus a cute new look too. A generous reader named Rachel Kate totally did all the work for me; more about that to come. Anyway, I'm letting you know ahead of time since things will be in transition for a little while. There may be some little issues here and there, but it will all result in a more organized site. Yay!

Other news: I just listed a bunch of new fabrics in my shop: some gorgeous stretch sateens, a couple lovely linens, and some silk chiffon. I'm starting a weekend sale right now too! Use code 10off to get 10% off your purchase of $50 or more.

Lastly! My last portrait blouse class at Make Workshop was a blast, so we've planned two more! Check out the website for classes in August and October. It's a very fun, low-key class. I can't wait to teach it again!

  5. Love love love the new blog graphic from your book! The color and layout is fantastic, vintage, fresh, and best of all, pink! I have so enjoyed reading blog, laughing at your humor, drooling over your beautiful clothes, learning vintage techniques from your book and just generally, being so inspired by your example. You are a modern, inspirational sewist. Keep up the fabulous work, we adore you!

  6. Love the fun new look. Like the haircut, too. On a side note, I loved the article in Threads. One of my favorite from your blog.

    Best Wishes,

  7. I'm sorry but I hate it, I LOVED your old look, it was simple, clean, and not at all busy. It made you focus on the main conent of your blog, your informative posts. This new look is not as easy on the eyes!

    1. I am not a big fan either. I was not going to say anything and I never post ... but Agnes made me feel brave. Then I realized that I'd want feedback on my blog if I changed it... So... I am not sure if this is your final look... it may be undergoing changes still. But here is my two cents. I don't think any of the pinks match and that is jarring to me. The overall layout feels cluttered. I can't pinpoint why (which is not helpful, sorry) but this design looks (to me) far less professional than the last blog did. I love your image and the cat in the graphic on top, but I don't like the diamond or the font for the title. I hope that is just a placeholder - it looks like one to me. I know the image is from your book... but that title bar does not come across as polished as your book images do somehow. Anyway - I understand that this is just my opinion... and I am just one person. I am trying to be constructive, I wish I had better feedback. But I will tell you that I had not looked at your blog in a few weeks and the reason I looked yesterday was because a friend took the time to text me just to tell me that she did not like your new look and wanted me to look at it to make sure she was not just having a bad day.
