$100 Hart's Fabric Giveaway!

Great news, readers! Hart's Fabric is offering one lucky reader a $100 gift card (with shipping included, no less). They have a lovely selection of garment fabrics online. All you need to do to enter is leave a comment saying which fabric you'd like to use for your next apparel project.

Here, I'll go first!

How about some floral silk knit for a drapey bow-neck top?

Or maybe a 50s-style suit in some iris-colored Shetland wool?

Ooh, or even a cute little dress or pajamas in this tea-cup print linen.

Isn't this fun? Okay, it's your turn! All countries are eligible. Please just make sure I'm somehow able to find your e-mail address (either by linking to your profile or by leaving it in your comment). I'll choose a winner at the end of the day on Wednesday.

Good luck, my dears!

  3. I actually recently placed a large order to Hart Fabrics and am quite excited to get started on those, but gotta do some muslins first since they're so nice! One fabric I'd like to get is the chocolate gingham since it was out of stock at the time of my order but I've been wanting some gingham garments for awhile now. kwugirl [at] gmail

  5. Hi Gertie: I would love to make a wrap, three-quarter length coat in the Modal Crazy Corner Wool in Cream. I know it's positively impractical, but I love cream wool coats, especially worn with black, or espresso dark brown fitted trousers, boots and a turtleneck. I would follow your example with your swing coat, and line it in something unexpected and luxurious!

    Thanks . . . this was fun!

  55. I am so excited - I am finally paying enough attention to be in time for a give away and I was forced to browse through a lovely selection of fabric. I will be adding them to my go to list!

Ahem. Contest. I am currently in the process of making the maids dresses for a friends wedding. I will be spending the week before the wedding with them in a hotel suite for final fittings and fun girl time... but I have absolutely nothing to wear - and I hate when the creator of lovely things looks frumpy. You have inspired me to start planning my WEEK long wardrobe.
I would love have a top out of this jersey stripe to pair with some sailor shorts (or skirt, I hate sewing shorts) http://www.hartsfabric.com/striped-knit-fabric60913.html
The wedding is in May - wouldn't this be a lovely dress for Florida? http://www.hartsfabric.com/floral-silk-chiffon-fabric61793.html Naturally I would have to have a slip - there are plenty of silks on the site for that...
I would also be adorable in a dress made of this voile http://www.hartsfabric.com/valori-wells-voile62313.html

Now to discover my fabric for the actual wedding :)

This was super fun - sorry for the long comment!

  123. Definitely the wool-silk blend - I have been itching to make a fabulous dress with an Alexander McQueen aesthetic!

  131. Thanks for the opportunity. The choices at Hart's look amazing. I love the iris wool you pointed out, but I'd probably pick the bubble gum pink. I'm girly like that.

  132. There's so, so much pretty there. Who needs groceries when there's fabric to be bought? ;) I would make a pencil skirt out of this grey wool: http://www.hartsfabric.com/wool-shetland-charcoal-64570.html and a drapey wrap top out of this blue charmeuse: http://www.hartsfabric.com/silk-charmeuse-fabric61087.html

  149. oooo, hope I'm not too late—the movers lost a chunk of my stash when we relocated. There are two big fat guys twirling around in novelty prints somewhere in Pittsburgh...

There are so many beautiful fabrics it's difficult to choose, but I might actually go with the royal blue cotton voile for a 40s skirt suit. I need something classic and versatile! (http://www.hartsfabric.com/cotton-voile-fabric59580.html)

That said, this Hawaiian challis might make a cute blouse to go beneath the suit...! (http://www.hartsfabric.com/hawaiian-rayon-fabric61966.html)

    Thank you, Gertie!

  153. Flannel! Flannel with bicycles, flannel with birds, flannel with tartan...

Or some spotty rayon chiffon for a drapy blouse, and some ruffle knit fabric for a wee short skirt. Very cute fabrics!
