- September 15-18: The Creative Connection, St Paul, MN. The tagline for this conference is "Women, Passion, Business" and it's all about blogging and creative pursuits. I'll be teaching one class on running a successful sewing blog and another on the necessary hand stitches for garment sewing.
- October 8-9: The Sewing Summit, Salt Lake City, UT. This is a sewing and bogging conference--how amazing is that?! I'll be teaching four classes: Garment Fabrics from Angora to Zibeline, Tailoring by Hand 101, Getting a Perfect Vintage Fit, and Essential Hand Stitches for Garment Sewing.
I'll also be attending the American Sewing Expo in Novi, Michigan, which is September 23rd to the 25th. This will not be part of my ambassador duties. Rather, I am a contestant in the Passion for Fashion competition, a live Project Runway-style challenge that takes place on the expo floor. Are you going to attend? Please stop by and cheer me on!
This is all a little funny since I've never been to a sewing show before and now I'm kind of going to all of them. Are you planning on attending any of these? Let me know so we can meet in person!
Your classes sound so fun....I want to go to Angora to Zibeline! k.
ReplyDeleteOh yay! I'll definitely look into attending the Sewing Summit now that you'll be teaching. That's so cool that you're coming to Salt Lake!
ReplyDeleteI would love to attend the Creative Connection, it sounds like so much fun and close too! But there would be no way that I could get time off work, after coming off a 10-week lay-off (I work at a school and it is back-to-work on the 6th). Nothing fun like this happens in the summer. ~Sigh~
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Madam!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on becoming the brand ambassador for BurdaStyle. Your classes sound like fun...I wish I could attend but sadly I live across the globe and wont be able to make it :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gertie. You are absolutely amazing! I hope you'll have time for a proper holiday/vacation in the middle of all this somewhere -- I have just been reading about how you poor old Americans just don't have enough time off!
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Gertie, There could be no better brand ambassador! Wish I could join one of these shows :( But I wish you lot of fun there!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm following you for many months now, and I'm very impressed by how your life evolves!keep on going and enjoying yourself.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gertie! Sadly I shall not be in the US for any of these events. However, Should you come to the UK, I'll be first in the queue for tickets...!!!
ReplyDeleteJust wow! You´re so successful, congratulations.
ReplyDeleteBurda comes from Germany and I just wanted to send some greetings from over here. ;-)

Wow! I wish I could go! Unfortunately there's this small issue of the Atlantic Ocean in the way... Keep us posted if there are videos of your lectures after the conferences. Way to go on your new position and good luck!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being a BurdaStyle brand ambassador! I wish I could attend one of your classes--they all sound amazing! :)
ReplyDeleteBest of luck finishing up the book work!
I toy with the idea of going to Novi just to get out of town but there's so much in town and in the area to do. Distractions, distractions!
ReplyDeleteI've been sewing for most of my life. It has only been since the beginning of Summer that I've been reading Sewing (and vintage clothing) Blogs. I am fastinated!! I've always felt isolated in my sewing interests and persuits and now I find a world of like minded ladies! JOY! Most seem to be younger than myself and at 60, I wonder if I'm among the oldest Sewing Blog Readers??? Thank you for all of the great information and hours of entertainment you've given me this Summer.
ReplyDeleteHow fun!!!!! I can't think of a better ambassador. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Ann :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Gertie! I have been reading from across the globe since your very first project and it's amazing what has happened in your life since then. It's been inspirational to read along. Can't wait to see your book.x

ReplyDeleteThis is exciting! I'm glad that you're taking all these great opportunities and enjoying so many different aspects of your new career. You are a real inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI am not aware of any sewing events here in Phoenix (other than quilting) but if you ever have an event here, I will be at every one of your classes! (Just be sure to come in the winter!)
Also I saw on BurdaStyle that you'll be involved in a sew-along soon and I'm looking forward to learning more about that.
I'm almost embarrassed to tell you how super excited I am to meet you at TCC! I'll be taking your class as well, it will be my highlight I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteCool! As soon as my studio is done and all my stuff is out of boxes I'm going to take your bombshell class.

ReplyDeleteThis will be my 6th Novi Expo, I will be there Friday and Saturday morning. I look forward to it each year as it is my favorite place to shop for fabric and interesting notions! Looking forward to seeing your creation in the Passion for Fashion contest.
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome adventure, Gertie! If there is anything such as a fashion or garment sewing expo here in my neck of the woods, I've not heard of them.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the excellent work.
