I'm a sewing enthusiast in Beacon, New York, with a love of all things retro. This site is all about tutorials, tips, inspiration, and lots of spirited discussion about sewing as it relates to fashion history, pop culture, body image, and gender. My first book, Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing, is now out from STC Craft/Melanie Falick Books! Also look for my line "Patterns by Gertie" from Butterick.
Hey, readers! For today's post, head over to Grograin Fabulous, where my half slip tutorial is featured as part of a month of free patterns. Enjoy--and enjoy all the pattern freebies!
It's great that you're participating in grosgrain's project! I'm looking forward to seeing all the lovely projects she'll feature. BTW, a blog award's waiting for you at http://stepalica.blogspot.com/2011/05/jos-jedna-nagrada-another-award.html
I used this pattern the Xmas before last to make a bunch of slips. Not only did it teach me how to work with elastic (I had just started sewing) but the results were great.
