So nice to see you work, Gertie! I'm going to look through all your vlogs many times, as I'm planning on a trenchcoat for winter 2010. I really would want it to include tailoring stuff like yours, so it's very nice to have such a resource in your vlogs! Happy new year!
Thanks for the video. Sometimes I have a hard time understanding written instructions but your vlogs are fantastic. Happy New Year. ~Sewjourner
Awesome job. Now, about that interfacing fused at the bottom, where did you purchase it? Did you call it Treecomb? I did a google search and can't seem to find any info. I am very interested in interfacing since I seem to only find the cheap stuff Joann's sells. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Oops, sorry, Erica! It's a tricot knit interfacing. I bought mine at Steinlauf and Stoller here in New York, and here's a link to an online shop:http://www.voguefabricsstore.com/store/catalog/Fusible-Tricot-Knit-Interfacing-White-p-8773.html
I'm fascinated by the use of silk thread for hand stitching and you mentioned you coat it in beeswax, or does it come coated? Could you elaborate a little on this?
So excellent. You know when you're finished you have to gather these together with a link on your sidebar, right? Right?the special cat appearance was really great. I miss my cats.
Thanks for the vlog! I really apreciate you do it, this way is clearer for me to udnerstand, I mean, sometimes is difficult for me to understand correctly written instructions, in fact I have a dress I haven't finished because I got "stucked" in the instruction ,I was wondering if I can email you and ask about it....perhaps?.. =)
Catherine, I use Gutermann silk thread for handstitching. Here's a link:http://www.redrockthreads.com/gutermann-thread/gutermann-silk.aspAnd then I run it through a little beeswax tool to coat it. This helps keep it strong and tangle-free.http://sewtrue.com/Store/Beeswax-with-Holder-P534.html?utm_medium=cse&utm_source=froogle
Thanks Gertie! You've inspired me to practice that method with some of my projects this year :)
Okay, need to see a closeup of those curtains too! They look great and remind me of one of my favorite apartments, Gennifer Goodman's, especially her green tablecloth.
Thanks for your comments; I read each and every one! xo Gertie
